“…it comes alive in the mouth…” – Connoisseurs Guide to California Wine

An early-ripening aromatic variety, Sauvignon Blanc is a natural fit for our estate vineyards in the cool climate of the Oak Knoll District. This thoughtfully made small-lot wine reflects not only our land and the vintage, but also our restraint in the cellar and our quest for balance and brightness in our wines.

The Vintage

The dormant season was wet with much more rain than usual before the skies cleared in April, just in time for budbreak. The weather in May was surprisingly cool and rainy again, slowing down the vine growth, and serving as a harbinger of the roller-coaster growing season that followed. The summer months alternated between warmer and cooler than average but, thankfully, the daily high temperatures rarely exceeded 100°F. September was warm and sunny, providing the perfect finish and all the grapes were in by mid-October.

The Wine

This wine exudes aromas of white nectarine, pineapple, and passion fruit with complementary layers of grapefruit, and lemon zest. On the palate the bright fruit flavors and refreshing acidity lead to an enticingly long finish, leaving you wanting more.

Food Affinities

This crisp and fresh wine is a perfect match for sushi, spicy tuna, or an avocado ginger salsa. Winery Chef Chris Kennedy suggests paring with our Spicy Tuna Poke recipe.
