2014 Pinot 1.5L
$130 / Magnum (1.5L)
Pinot Noir is a delicate grape, famously reflective of the place and people that grow it. Made with a gentle touch, this carefully crafted small-lot wine reveals the distinctive character of our estate vineyards.
There are many layers to the excitement and joy that we feltl about the 2014 vintage. To begin with, we were lucky to have been able to harvest our grapes in a year that was marked by severe drought and a significant earthquake here in Napa just as harvest began. As though Mother Nature has a sense of irony, the part that usually keeps us humble, the weather, was absolutely perfect. So we didn’t just bring in the grapes; we brought in grapes from each block as they reached perfect ripeness and we have produced wines of truly exceptional quality.
Influenced by the foggy mornings of the Oak Knoll District, the aromas of our Pinot Noir start with violets, plums, and cherries and linger with hints of mushroom and tobacco. The palate is velvety and filled with raspberry, caramel, and earthy characteristics of mushrooms and spice.
The ultimate food pairing wine, Pinot Noir shines with leaner meats, poultry, and sausage. The wine is uplifted with earthy flavors like truffles and mushrooms. Complement with coriander, rosemary, thyme, tarragon, cinnamon, or allspice.
