Block IX, on the western edge, has long been our favorite.
Our winery is surrounded by Cabernet Sauvignon vines, planted in the year 2000. There are eleven sub-blocks, and Block IX, on the western edge, has long been our favorite. We have given it its own small bottling, and we are thrilled to share it with you.
This wine opens with aromas of black cherry and dried fruit alongside subtle hints of cassis and green tobacco. On the palate, flavors of bay laurel and black peppercorn combine with a textural yet tannic structure, leaving traces of cocoa and anise.
The tannic nature of this wine calls for grilled or charred meats such as ribeye or duck paired perfectly with peppery greens such as arugula. Winery Chef Chris Kennedy recommends complementing this wine with charred spring onions and morel mushroom risotto.
