Vineyard Update

July 13, 2020

“In the vineyard, we are removing leaves and excess vine growth to allow light and airflow into the fruit zone. We delicately remove leaves and lateral growth by hand to get the optimal amount of sun exposure on the clusters, adjusting the amount of direct sunlight that reaches the cluster based on the variety or quality goals. Generally, the whites – Chardonnay and Riesling – are more sensitive to heat and we have to be careful not to overexpose the fruit.” – Brendan Brambila, Director of Viticulture
