“…it comes alive in the mouth…” – Connoisseurs Guide to California Wine

An early-ripening aromatic variety, Sauvignon Blanc is a natural fit for our estate vineyards in the cool climate of the Oak Knoll District. This thoughtfully made small-lot wine reflects not only our land and the vintage, but also our restraint in the cellar and our quest for balance and brightness in our wines.

The Vintage

The preceding winter, which marked our second consecutive drought year, featured the lowest rainfall total in our entire history, going back to 1968. The vines grew vigorously during the warm and dry spring as the vineyard team did an excellent job with early weed control and irrigation. The summer months, from June through September, were all cooler than average, which slowed down the ripening process and allowed for fantastic flavor development. The yields were lower than usual, given the drought conditions, but
the resulting wines are all excellent and reflect our unique location in the Oak Knoll District at the cooler southern end of Napa Valley.

The Wine

Delivering fresh and bright notes of guava, pear, and lime leaf with hints of jasmine white tea and parsley, this wine is fresh and bright. The vibrant citrus fruit flavors on the palate are lifted with a lively acidity leading to a mouthwatering finish.

Food Affinities

The bright acidity makes this the perfect wine for light summer fare. Winery Chef Chris Kennedy says it accentuates the taste of the sea and suggests enjoying this wine with our Roasted Striped Bass with Meyer Lemon & Wild Fennel.
