Five classic varieties inspire a wine to be enjoyed anytime. Cabernet Sauvignon gives depth and structure; Merlot brings a lively spiciness; Petit Verdot adds intense color; Malbec has a silky softness; and Cabernet Franc contributes hints of violets.

The Vintage

Ample rainfall in the spring recharged the soil profile and provided a strong start to the growing season. The weather during the summer featured consistent warmth and sunshine without any major heat spells. Cooler than average temperatures in August and September slowed the ripening process, providing long hang time and leading to complex flavor development. October was mostly dry and warmer than usual allowing us to pick each block at optimal ripeness. The harvest was complete before November and the start of an epic rainy season.

The Wine

The nose is full of lush cherry and red raspberry followed by subtle notes of vanilla and cinnamon. Juicy fruit flavors excite the palate and the long finish is wrapped with cedar, nutmeg, and clove spice.

Food Affinities

This wonderfully versatile red wine is a perfect counterpart to savory Italian cuisine with a bold red sauce, like pizza or pasta. Its full palate will also stand up nicely to lean red meats or fresh herb risotto with roasted mushrooms.
