Our Nana, Catherine Trefethen, was Welsh. Her twin loves of wine and family were the original inspiration for our estate in Napa Valley’s Oak Knoll District. Celebrating our heritage, “Y Ddraig Goch”, the symbol of Wales, adorns this bottle of Dragon’s Tooth, a provocative blend born from the rockiest part of our vineyard.
Record-breaking winter rains filled our reservoirs and recharged the soil. Spring and early summer were warm, leading to very strong growth in the vines. The rest of the summer was more typical with warm days and cool nights, providing perfect conditions for the developing grapes. Our yields for the season were slightly lower than average and the resulting wines are classic—with complex flavors and our signature brightness on the palate.
Rich, yet fresh and bright, this wine is incredibly enchanting. The nose features intense aromas of dark brambly fruit and layers of cinnamon, violet, and vanilla. Balanced and supple on the palate, the finish is mouthwateringly smooth.
25% Cabernet Sauvignon
16% Petit Verdot
Winery Chef Chris Kennedy enjoys Dragon‘s Tooth with slow-cooked peppers and tomatoes for the deep richness that complements this wine perfectly. He suggests pairing with leaner cuts of beef like flank or skirt steak

“The 2017 Red Blend Dragon’s Tooth, a Malbec-based blend, is bold, luscious and fruity – qualities that combine to give it tremendous near- and medium-term appeal. A rush of red cherry jam, raspberry, sweet spice and new leather punctuate this flashy, exuberant Napa Valley red. I would prefer to drink it over the next handful of years.” – Antonio Galloni, January 2020
