A wine of depth and dignity, this elegant expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon reflects everything we have learned farming our estate vineyards in the cool climate of the Oak Knoll District since 1968. Achieving a density of dark fruit on the palate, we maintain a bright and lively peppery spiciness, resulting in a wine of impeccable balance that evolves beautifully in both the glass and the cellar.

The Vintage

Much of our winter rain came late, with almost 12 inches in March alone. With a very warm spring, the vines were running about three weeks early heading into the summer months. July and August were cooler than average, with foggy mornings, mild sunny afternoons, and no severe heat spells. Vineyard temperatures rose again in September and harvest dates were early by about two weeks. The heat in the spring and again in the fall provided welcome bookends to the mild summer. The grapes benefited from increased hang time and showed fantastic character development.

The Wine

Deep purple-ruby in color, the wine has fruit-driven aromas of plum, cherry, and a hint of bay leaf. The palate is rich and concentrated with flavors of red fruits, baking spice, and vanilla. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is ready to be enjoyed with your next meal or to rest in your cellar for future enjoyment.

Food Affinities

For the perfect match, start with a finer cut of beef and flavor with thyme, black pepper, or rosemary. Mushrooms make an excellent side dish. For something unexpected and delightful, pair this wine with rare Ahi tuna in a peppercorn crust.
