The future of our winery is in our vineyards. The future of our family is in our children for whom this wine is named—Hailey and Lorenzo. This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the very finest lots of our Hillspring Vineyard.
With a warm spring, the vines got off to an early start. The weather turned cool during bloom, impacting fruit set and resulting in fewer grapes per cluster. The size of the crop was further reduced as the dry soils, from the lack of late rains, led to smaller grapes. Warm weather during the summer kept the vines running early, right into one of our earliest harvests ever. The resulting wines are fantastic as the smaller grapes and fine weather contributed to ideal ripeness with very concentrated flavors.
The 2015 HāLo Cabernet Sauvignon has power, balance, and beauty. Rich, structured, and impressively elegant, this wine has exquisite notes of dark cherry and boysenberry accompanied by hints of cedar and Herbes de Provence. The palate is as brilliant as the nose with gorgeous, lush dark red fruit flavors beautifully balanced with vibrant acidity. The finish is enduring and enticingly graceful. Collectors will recognize and appreciate the splendor of what is to come with more time in the cellar.
Winery Chef Chris Kennedy suggests savoring this wine with the finest cuts of red meat or lamb. Roasted mushrooms with toasted garlic and caramelized onions is a highly recommended side dish.
