The Vintage

A classic vintage for the Napa Valley, the 2012 growing season was characterized by warm days and cool nights. In our vineyards in the Oak Knoll District, a dry and warm spring provided the vines with a strong start and the summer was generally mild with most days getting up into the 80’s and many nights as low as the 40’s. The early start to the season was tempered by a slightly cooler than average autumn resulting in typical harvest dates for all varieties–and grapes and wines of exceptional quality.

The Wine

One of our favorite blocks of Pinot Noir is selected because of its lively fruit flavors. The grapes are pressed and left with the juice for just 12 hours in order to enhance the bright vibrant pink hue. A little malolactic fermentation and short time in oak add a light layer of creaminess and toast to the finished wine. Flavors of strawberry, watermelon and cherry highlight the palate of this bright and lively wine. Best consumed on your front porch on a summer day. Less than 400 cases produced.

Food Affinities

Rosé can be one of the easiest wines to pair with food. It goes well with salty or spicy full-flavored dishes from many parts of the world. Try it with a grilled cheese and Italian cured meet sandwich. Or, serve it with anything pink—lobster, shrimp or ham.
