2008 Dry Riesling

The Vintage
The growing season in 2008 began with more spring frost events than we have experienced in decades. You could find the crew two out of every three nights during the month of April in the vineyard “frost-protecting”. Rainfall wasn’t as generous as in past years either. However the summer growing season was splendid, followed by a beautiful fall that provided the perfect finish for the vintage.

The Wine
It starts with a smile. Pale gold edges seem to grin at you from the sides of the glass, and aromas of delicate jasmine flower, coupled with pineapple, guava, tarragon, and lemongrass soon bring a smile to your lips, as well. Dimples only deepen upon the first taste, with cantaloupe, lemon, fennel, and especially white peaches playing off each other in delightful balance. A little bit of slate minerality rounds out the finish, leaving you as you started, with a smile.

Food Affinities
A wonderful apéritif wine, our Dry Riesling also beautifully accompanies crab, shellfish, and sushi. It is a great match for Asian and Southwestern-inspired dishes, with a special affinity for green curry and seared ahi. Plus, it’s absolutely the best wine to sip while cooking.
