The growing season in 2008 began with more spring frost events than we have experienced in decades. You could find the crew two out of every three nights during the month of April in the vineyard “frost-protecting”. Rainfall wasn’t as generous as in past years either. However the summer growing season was splendid, followed by a beautiful fall that provided the perfect finish for the vintage.
The WineA dynamic wine—handsomely crafted with dark ripe fruit, cacao, and tobacco—our 2008 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is full bodied and
remarkably balanced with flavors of black cherry, chocolate, blackberry pie, clove, and pepper spice. Showcasing a wonderful
cedar finish intertwined with a burst of acidity that primes your mouth for the next sip…
Fine cuts of beef and lamb, as well as hearty stews like cassoulet.
Accolades92 Points Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine, August 2011
“There is no shortage of ripeness here, but it stands well behind the virtues of handsomely crafted fruit and a lovely sense of proportion that blends every element of this wine into both harmony and refinement. It is surprisingly and rewardingly sleek for such a full- bodied wine, and the fact that its size shows up in our notes as an afterthought is testament to its balance at every stop. Even in the finish, where its youth gives it a bit of an acidy pucker to its cherry and currant flavors, this wine displays both polish and likeability. It is bound to age for a decade but can be enjoyed sooner.”
