2009 Quandary
As one of the pioneering families of Napa Valley and some of the most experimental winegrowers in California, the Trefethens are generally an open-minded bunch. But when the winemaker presented John and Janet with an unlikely blend of Viognier, Chardonnay, and Riesling, they thought he had finally had a little too much to drink. Until they tasted it, of course. Beautifully fragrant and refreshing, this 2009 vintage of Quandary was produced in a limited quantity.

2009 was an excellent, even-keeled vintage in Napa Valley. Consistently mild weather throughout the growing and harvest seasons resulted in stress-free vines, long grape hang times, and fruit with finely developed flavors at lower-than-normal sugar levels.
The WineThe conundrum about Quandary, our proprietary blend of Chardonnay, Riesling and Viognier, is that it’s the perfect wine to serve when you’re in a . . . well, quandary! Fresh, inviting and oh, so easy-drinking, this rich, viscous white is clearly the sum of its delicious parts: lovely floral and crisp citrus notes from the Riesling; succulent apple and pear fruit from the Chardonnay; and luscious tropical tones from the Viognier. Yum!
Food AffinitiesCasual meals featuring seafood, poultry and vegetarian entrees. It’s also an ideal picnic, patio, pool and back porch sipping wine.
