2008 Quandary
As one of the pioneering families of Napa Valley and some of the most experimental winegrowers in California, the Trefethens are generally an open-minded bunch. But when winemaker Peter Luthi presented John and Janet with an unlikely blend of Viognier, Chardonnay, and Riesling, they thought he had finally had a little too much to drink. Until they tasted it, of course. Beautifully fragrant and refreshing, this 2008 vintage of Quandary was produced in a limited quantity.

The growing season in 2008 began with more spring frost events than we have experienced in decades. You could find the crew two out of every three nights during the month of April in the vineyard “frost-protecting”. Rainfall wasn’t as generous as in past years either. However the summer growing season was splendid, followed by a beautiful fall that provided the perfect finish for the vintage.
The WineTropical fruit aromas with hints of cantaloupe and lemon grass. Lush and juicy on the palate with papaya, ginger and citrus notes. Wonderful rich mouthfeel with a clean, bright finish.
Food AffinitiesIdeal for summer meals and patio sipping, it’s a puzzle you’re sure to enjoy.
