2013 Cabernet Sauvignon
Our Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted in gravelly soils in the northwestern quadrant of our estate vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. These well drained soils combined with limited yields produce Cabernet Sauvignon fruit with bright and complex flavors.

The spring was warm and dry, getting the vines off to an early start. The weather stayed warm throughout the summer but was free of damaging heat spells. September brought a classic Napa Valley autumn with warm days and very cool nights. With the consistent warmth, the harvest began about two weeks early and we had a very busy September. The beautiful growing season resulted in truly exceptional wines—full of ripe flavors, developed in the sunshine, and balanced by natural acidity from the cool nights. The Wine
Vibrant and deep ruby color. The very attractive nose has aromas of fresh blackberry, red currant and dried fruit. The palate is round and opens with earthy/herbal tones and finishes with silky flavors of cassis, chocolate and black pepper. Balanced and drinkable now, but also an excellent addition to the collector's cellar.Food Affinities
Start with a base of a hearty red meat, duck or veal cut. To bring out the flavors in the wine, complement the entree with sides or sauces featuring mushrooms, roasted tomatoes or garden spices (oregano or thyme).Accolades

"Top producer, long history of classic wine, definer of regional characteristics, signature variety -- put them all together and it equals a high score, right? Certainly not always, but in this case the answer is an unqualified yes. This is a classic Napa Valley wine, showing once again Trefethen's mastery with Cabernet."
