2010 Dry Riesling

The vines got off to a slow start as April and May were both cooler and wetter than average. The cool trend continued into the mild summer and a full growing season that was our coolest since 1978. The exception was one notable heat spell in late August, when temperatures soared to over 111° F! Fortunately, September and October brought enough warm days to provide a beautiful finish to the growing season, allowing us to complete harvest a full week earlier than in 2009.

Fresh and fragrant the distinct floral aromas of jasmine and geranium are integrated with ripe white peach. On the palate delightful acidity and minerality prevail with classic Trefethen Riesling flavors of lime, peach and a touch of refreshing kiwi and melon. A lingering essence of grapefruit gives this wine a lively finish.

Shellfish, sushi, crab cakes, seared Ahi tuna, lemon chicken, grilled chicken-apple sausages and a broad assortment of Asian, southwestern and Caribbean dishes (especially green curries) are just a few of the delicious matches for this wonderfully versatile food wine. Don’t forget to sip some while you cook!
