2009 Chardonnay
In 1979, Trefethen 1976 Chardonnay was named “Best Chardonnay in the World” at the Gault Millau World Wine Olympics in France, beginning our 30-year tradition of excellence with this most popular of white wines. Key to our success is our vineyard’s location in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley, where well-drained, loamy soils and a marine-influenced climate yield Chardonnay grapes with rich, balanced flavors.

2009 was an excellent, even-keeled vintage in Napa Valley. Consistently mild weather throughout the growing and harvest seasons resulted in stress-free vines, long grape hang times, and fruit with finely developed flavors at lower-than-normal sugar levels.
The WineOur 36th vintage of Napa Valley Chardonnay offers all the ingredients fans of this wine have come to treasure: beautifully fresh, complex aromas of golden apple, spicy pear and bright citrus fruit coupled with floral notes and hints of butter and toasty/clove-y French oak; a supple, beautifully balanced texture with vibrant apple and lemon-lime flavors; and a crisp, slightly spicy finish with refreshing mineral tones. The product of a cool-climate vintage, it is delightful now, but will unfold gracefully with further bottle aging.
Food AffinitiesDelightful with seafood, lemon herb-roasted chicken, creamy pasta dishes, and foods seasoned with a bit of tarragon.
