2017 Late Harvest Riesling

Our Late Harvest Riesling comes from grapes picked as late as December as we leave them on the vine to develop botrytis cinerea, the "noble rot." When ready, the grapes look almost like raisins and they yield very little juice. After a long and slow fermentation, the resulting wine is quite sweet, incredibly complex and absolutely delicious.

The Vintage

Record-breaking winter rains filled our reservoirs and recharged the soil. Spring and early summer were warm, leading to very strong growth in the vines. The rest of the summer was more typical with warm days and cool nights, providing perfect conditions for the developing grapes. Our yields for the season were slightly lower than average and the resulting wines are classic—with complex flavors and our signature brightness on the palate.

The Wine

This is dessert in a glass! The nose blossoms with ethereal aromas of lemon, apricot and peach. On the palate, the wine is sweet yet fresh with a long, lingering finish.

Food Affinities

This wine loves peaches, pears, apples, and both dried and fresh apricots. It is best to keep the complementary dish simple and not too sweet. For a lighter finish, enjoy with fresh fruit and a creamy cheese
