2016 Late Harvest Riesling
Our Late Harvest Riesling comes from grapes picked as late as November or even December as we leave them on the vine to develop botrytis cinerea, the "noble rot." When ready, the grapes look almost like raisins and they yield very little juice. After a long slow fermentation, the resulting wine is quite sweet, incredibly complex and absolutely delicious.

Much of our winter rain came late, with almost 12 inches in March alone. With a very warm spring, the vines were running about three weeks early heading into the summer months. July and August were cooler than average, with foggy mornings, mild sunny afternoons and no severe heat spells. Vineyard temperatures rose again in September and harvest dates were early by about two weeks. The heat in the spring and again in the fall provided welcome bookends to the mild summer. The grapes benefited from increased hang time and showed fantastic character development. The Wine
A flamboyantly perfumed wine with luscious flavors of honey, peach, apricot and orange blossoms. The residual sugar leads to a voluptuously sweet and rich mouthfeel.Food Affinities
This wine shines with desserts featuring grilled peaches or apricots in the summer and with poached apples or pears in the fall. For the best pairings, be cautious of balance and don’t serve with anything overly sweet. A favorite here at the winery is a fire roasted stone fruit tart with flaky puff pastry, toasted almonds, and whipped cream that has just a hint of salt. YUM!!!!
