2007 Cutting Horse Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
This limited release wine is a tribute to the sport of Cutting, with a percentage of the sales going to NCHA charities and Colorado State University for equine medical research. According to Janet Trefethen, an avid cutter, “This is a wonderful way to enjoy a great wine and give support to the equestrian community at the same time.”
The Trefethen family is renowned for its Napa Valley Estate Grown Wines. Theirs is a rich agricultural heritage with a passion for winemaking. Nearly everyone in the family is a top-ranked cutter, so it only seems fitting to integrate these two life-long pursuits.

The 2007 growing season began with a dry, warm winter and spring, resulting in early budbreak, bloom and grape set. Low soil moisture curtailed foliage growth, ensuring the grape clusters enjoyed ample sunshine during a mild summer in which temperatures rarely reached 90 degrees. The cooler-than-normal weather fostered slow, even ripening, a relaxed, well-paced harvest and wines with deeply concentrated, expressive flavors.
